I went on trout fishing trip with my brother to the lovely East Branch of the Delaware River in the Catskills. He fished, I wandered, took photos and videos, and twiddled my guitar on the porch of our fishing cabin. And there I wrote this song.
Just this morning I spent some time,
Some quality time with the dandelions.
One so yellow it hurt my eyes,
The other was puffy and ready to fly.
Quality time with the dandelions,
Quality time…
Quality time with the dandelions,
Quality time with dandelions.
Today I saw a copper penny,
Lying on a small town street,
Someone dropped and didn’t want it
A penny lost and obsolete.
A penny lost and obsolete.
A penny lost…
A penny lost and obsolete.
A penny lost and obsolete.
Sweet old couple in a camper van
Red Sox lover with a Yankee fan
She was Myrna he was Vaughn,
A crusty buzzard and an aging swan.
She showed me where she’d seen a fawn
He was worried their tires were worn
Heard some noise right about dawn
They’d gone back home to Oregon.
They’ve gone back home to Oregon.
They’ve gone back home…
They’ve gone back home to Oregon.
They’ve gone back home to Oregon.
My brother fished for trout today,
He caught him some, some got away.
He puts back the ones he catches
Back in their river passageway.
The river is their passageway.
The river…
The river is their passageway.
The river is their passageway.
Just this morning I spent some time,
Some quality time with the dandelions.
One so yellow it hurt my eyes,
The other was puffy and ready to fly.
Quality time with the dandelions,
Quality time…
Quality time with the dandelions,
Quality time with dandelions.
