A song for my 20-year buddy, Fred the Cat.
To make the video, I removed Freddy from some of the images using Photoshop, which was a little spooky: reliving his fading from my life many times.
Nobody sleeping in Bill’s guitar case,
Nobody curled up on Charlie’s jacket
Fred the Cat
Has used up all nine lives.
Empty dish upon the floor,
Lots of cat food in the cupboard,
Fred the Cat has used up all nine lives.
Just a little ragged kitten,
When I brought him safe and home,
But now Fred the Cat has used up all nine lives.
20 years we lived together,
20 years he never scratched me
20 years he never once bit me
But once in a while if I bothered him,
He’d show me a claw
Look me in the eye…
Nobody’s curled up on my chest,
No one’s paw rests on my arm
Because Fred the Cat has used up all nine lives.
Did I hear a faint meowing
Wait a minute, just remembered
No, Fred the Cat has used up all nine lives.
There’s an aisle at the market
I don’t go down anymore
Because Fred the Cat has used up all nine lives.
20 years we lived together,
20 years he never scratched me
20 years he never once bit me
But once in a while if I bothered him,
He’d showed me a claw
Look me in the eye…
