This is about how we live between extremes: of size, of temperature, of time. It was written before the latest nightmare of war broke out, but seems more relevant because of it.
Here I am confused about,
Exactly what we are.
So much larger than an atom
But so much smaller than a star.
I see a lot of data here,
That I’m trying to define,
I am l smarter than a rock you know,
but not an Einstein.
Here on earth between extremes,
We do what can be done,
Shivering from the coldest cold,
Then scorched by flaming sun.
How long is our welcome here?
How long to sing and rhyme,
Longer than a blink of an eye,
But not geologic time.
Given love a child thrives,
A loveless life is poor,
How much love will the angels need,
To end all these endless wars?
Here I am confused about,
Exactly what we are,
So much larger than an atom,
|
But so much smaller than a star.
