A song about time and timing that switches from 4/4 to 3/4 time and back. It's a weird little song, but I like it.
I have heard that it’s all in the ti-i-i-ming,
I suppose that that might be true
The start must come first, the ending comes last
And we stumble our way through the heart.
Then with faces all shining,
Our chairs are reclining,
We ponder how everything went
And judging our journey,
We set aside time for the next.
It tends to be darker at ni-i-i-ight,
When the sun has gone somewhere else
We turn on the light in the cabin
We stare as the ice bucket melts.
We suspect things are shifting,
The fog might be lifting,
The future is landing so soon
We check our essentials
With all of this now coming true.
Time keeps moving fa-a-a-ster,
Faster the older we get
So often it seems to be Thursday
Things were supposed to get done.
I have heard that time is what keeps it all
All from happening at once,
Time is our friend and our enemy
As we glance at our grandfather clock.
I have heard that it’s all in the ti-i-i-ming,
I suppose that that might be true
The start must come first, the ending comes last
And we stumble our way through the heart.
